The Rutgers University Food Science Dept. invites healthy men and women, who like to eat raw clams, to participate in a consumer taste study. We are investigating a new technology to protect the freshness and eating quality of raw clams. This technology is already widely used for oysters.
The study will take place at the Food Science Dept. on Cook Campus on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007. Subjects will be paid for their participation.
To participate you must be 18-60 years of age, be healthy, with no allergies to shellfish, and be a raw clam eater. Please email you answers to the questions below to koelliker@aesop.rutgers.edu to see if you qualify to participate.

3. How often do you eat raw clams on the half-shell? Please choose one: less than 2 times/year, 2-5 times/year, OR more than 6 times/year.
4. Do you have asthma? (yes/no)
5. Do you have any food allergies? (yes/no) If YES, please explain. If YES, do you have an allergy to seafood?
6. Gave you ever had any of the following reactions to seafood? Please choose ALL that apply: hives or rash, trouble breathing, swelling of the mouth or throat, AND/OR gastrointestinal symptoms.
We will contact you via email to let you know if you qualify for the study once you have emailed the answers to the questions above.
