Research at Long Island University's Intercultural Institute on Human Development and Aging (Brooklyn, New York) examining aspects of the aging process. We are looking for eligible volunteers for an interesting study on Writing and Disclosure.
To participate in the research you need to be:
1. Caucasian/White and born in the United States; and
2. Aged between 57-80 years
Participation in the research requires that we meet with you for about 20-30 minutes. During that time you would complete short questionnaires regarding your health and self-disclosure, and receive prestamped and preaddressed envelopes to write about your life for 15 minutes each day for 4 consecutive days; this is done in the convenience of your home (i.e. you take them home and write at home, mailing your data to us in the envelopes provided). Finally, when we receive all your envelopes, we meet with you again (10-15 minutes maximum) one month later to complete a final questionnaire and to pay you.
Having fulfilled the study requirements and returned all data to the Institute, you will be given $40 CASH for your time.
If you are interested, please call us at US US +1 7187804133 Call Call (Yulia - Project Coordinator) to check your eligibility. If there is no answer, please leave a message with your name and phone number or email to us at physiolab@brooklyn.liu.edu (subject: Writing and Disclosure).
The offices of the Intercultural Institute are located in downtown Brooklyn, just off the main campus of Long Island University (4th Floor, 9 Hanover Place, corner of Fulton St Brooklyn, NY 11201). The closest subway lines are B, D, M, N, Q, R to DeKalb Ave, 2, 3, 4, 5 to Nevins St, or A, C, G to Hoyt-Schermerhorn St subway stations; both are less than two minutes to our office.
Note, if mobility is a problem for you please call and we can discuss the possibility of having an interviewer visit your home (depending on the area that you live). Again, thank you for your help and interest in this important work in an understudied sector of our society.
NOTE: All information that you provide is confidential and it will be treated absolutely confidentially.
