Easy adult dessert,
Approximate Time: 2 hours, including baking and cooling
Yield: 24 servings
•1 box yellow cake mix
•red wine, any variety
•1 cup sugar
•1/4 lb unsalted butter
•1/4 cup additional red wine
Steps:1.Using cake mix, eggs, oil, and wine, make cake according to package directions substituting wine for water.
2.Pour into a greased 9x13 inch pan and bake according to package directions.
3.Slice cake before making the glaze.
4.Combine 1 stick butter, 1 cup white sugar, and 1/4 cup wine and bring to a boil.
5.Stir until the sugar dissolves. Pour hot glaze over cake allowing glaze to penetrate sliced areas.
6.After glazing, allow cake to cool one hour.
While I prefer red wine, white wine will work as well. Voice of experience, do NOT try with creme de menthe or other high alcohol content liquids.
