My sister-in-law is graduating from nursing school in December, too! What a coincidence! I bought her a subscription to a couple nursing magazines. Mags for Less has the American Journal of Nursing for under $18.
My daughter is graduating in January. I purchased a custom stethoscope with something engraved on the "round part" that is placed on your chest. Go to allheart.com and look at the list on the left. When you see stethoscopes click on that. Now look for "Ultra Scope" stethoscope. You can choose the design and color of the stethoscope. I had my engraved with the following message "live, laugh, learn and love". I can't wait to give it to her.
My fav gift was a nice watch with a second hand. I also liked having my own pair of personalized bandage scissors. A personal stethoscope is great too because you don't have to keeping wiping off other folks' earwax...
We need more nurses since the baby boomer nurses are retiring!

I agree with the stethescope idea. A good quality one will last . The ems workers around here all covet a brand called Litman, not sure if I spelled it right. But, it can detect heart sounds through winter coats and several layers of clothing. Congratulations to the graduate!

I still use my monogramed stethoscope and the ideas Mary listed are great too.
Just make sure the watch is waterproofed........
