Freebie posting guidelines

I am guilty of reposting but I check every post with the search engine. Can you give me some tips on how to use your search engine? When I search, it comes up with:

Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.

Then someone will post that it is a repost. Help!
I really want ot follow the rules but the search engine is not the "best".

donia, don't feel offended because something of yours got deleted. i've had things deleted a few times myself. we are just trying to keep the board neat and running smoothly, that's all. and if it makes you feel better, i checked your posts and threads and that is the only one that got deleted. so please keep posting, we all enjoy your company.

Part of the repost problem is the site software. Several years ago you could check for a post by using the link to the site. That is no longer available on Vbulletin - it was so much easier when you could just put the link in and hit search and it would pull up posts that had that link in them. It definatly makes it easier to do a search if the poster puts the product name in the title of the thread ie list Purina One verses "free dog food".

I get a little frustrated too because I may recall a post about the item, but
when I try a search I get the no matches message.

Lately I try putting part of the URL string in the search box and have pretty good luck that way. The other thing I look for is a key or unusual word in
the description of the item I want to post and that works pretty good.

that is just it. karen has said that she wants everyone to put in the product name and company name so it's easier to search.

Noticed we have a lot more posts lately that don't follow Karen's
instructions. Please always put the name of the company or
web site in the title as well as the item that is being posted.

Free Craft Patterns would not be correct.

You could post the title one of several ways:
Free Craft Patterns from Best Craft Patterns Company
Best Craft Patterns Company - Free Craft Patterns
Best Craft Patterns Company has Free Craft Patterns

lol.....nope, there is no easy way. when i first started it was only 2 months when the forum first started so there werent that many pages.
good luck to you. it should keep you busy for a while

just so you know, a lot of them might be expired because they are so old.

Hi and welcome...are you going through all the freebie posts from
the beginning? If so, then like Kelly mentioned, you may find a lot
of offers that are gone or expired. That's going to take you quite
a while to wade through all of them.

If you are looking for particular types of offers you could use the
search feature using one or two key words. For example, if you want
baby items, search baby or babies or even a particular product name
like Gerber. Then I would suggest starting with the most recent posts
that appear when the search returns a list for you.
