Upholstery Fabric

Need fabric for an upholstery project? You’ve come to the right place! We have a wide selection of fabric for upholstering dining chairs, armchairs, couches, headboards, and much more. Upholstery fabric is a great choice because it’s durable and heavyweight but you can also use medium weight drapery fabric for many upholstery applications as well.

Take a look at our upholstery yardage chart to get a sense of how much fabric you will need and don’t forget to stock up on upholstery supplies to complete your project! See Drapery Fabric vs. Upholstery Fabric for more information about choosing an upholstery fabric.

Designer Upholstery Fabric

Our selection of designer upholstery fabric consists of many different designs, textures, and solid colors to fit any style. Unlike drapery fabric where the design is often printed onto the fabric, it’s common for the pattern to be woven into upholstery fabric with different color threads. This makes it more durable because the design won’t wear off of the fabric with heavy use. We carry many designer brands that produce quality upholstery fabric in beautiful designs.

Denim Upholstery Fabric

Denim fabric is a popular choice for casual upholstery and slipcovers. It’s a medium to heavy weight cotton fabric with a diagonal twill weave that is tear resistant. Bull denim fabric is dyed after being woven, producing uniformly colored fabrics. Classic washed denim is the heaviest option and is woven with two colors of thread for that classic denim look.

Vinyl & Faux Leather Upholstery

Our selection of lightweight Microsuede, Sensuede and Toray Ultrasuede® are great for all fashion and accessory designs, visual displays, and a wide range of upholstery projects. All faux suede fabrics have a supple texture and don't fray, making them easy to work with.

Linen Upholstery Fabric

Linen Upholstery Fabric

Linen is a classic fabric that looks great in many décor styles. Heavier weight linen like our selection of Belgian linen and European linen can be used for upholstery and slipcovers. Linen is made from the flax plant and is both durable and breathable. It’s great for chairs, couches, ottomans, and headboards.

Outdoor & Patio Upholstery Fabric

Outdoor and Patio Upholstery Fabric

Outdoor upholstery fabric is water, stain, mildew, and UV resistant, making it perfect for patios, porches, and other outdoor spaces. You’ll find prints in fun tropical, beach, and nautical themes, as well as classic stripes and solids. Popular brands include Sunbrella and Tommy Bahama. Outdoor vinyl and Phifertex vinyl coated polyester are also great for outdoor applications.

Upholstery Burlap Fabric

Upholstery Burlap Fabric

Natural burlap is conventionally used in the construction of upholstered furniture and is available in several weights. Sagless burlap is very tightly woven and is traditionally used for support when upholstering high-end furniture. While the rustic look of burlap is very popular, it is not recommended for sitting on because of its rough texture. However, it can be used decoratively on the exterior backs and sides of furniture.

Featherproof Ticking Fabric

Featherproof Ticking Fabric

Ticking is a strong, functional fabric traditionally used to cover pillows and mattresses filled with down and feathers because its tight weave does not allow feathers to poke through. Ticking is available in white, natural, or with a recognizable stripe pattern that is often used decoratively in country décor styles.

Deck & Dust Cover Fabric

Deck and Dust Cover Fabric

Dust cloth is a lightweight fabric that is tacked or stapled to the underside of chairs and other furniture to cover the springs, webbing, or cushioning. Deck cover, also referred to as decking or platform cloth, is used in upholstery projects as a platform under the seat cushion. Since it won’t be seen when the cushions are added, it’s a less expensive option than using upholstery fabric on the deck.

Boat & Marine Upholstery Fabric

Boat and Marine Upholstery Fabric

Marine vinyl by Nassimi and Spradling is perfect for upholstering boat seats and cushions because it’s very durable and stands up well to weather and sun. Marine-grade vinyl has UV protection to prevent the color from fading in sunlight. Antibacterial and antifungal additives make it mildew resistant.
